Adnan Sami's application to the Indian Home Ministry over exemption from deportation on humanitarian grounds has been accepted and the singer has been granted permission to stay in the country for an indefinite period.

Tabloid media revealed that the 46-year-old singer is under the impression that Pakistanis are not very happy about his stay in India and they are burning his effigies, reported the Express Tribune.

Responding to the permission, the 'Sun Zara' hit-maker said that he is very thankful to the Indian Government for considering his plea. Sami added that he is waiting for the day when the government grants him Indian citizenship.

The singer further said that right now he is from no man's land because his Pakistani citizenship has been renounced.

Sami, who is unbothered by the reactions from his native country, said that the love, adulation and warmth that he got from India is the reason why he chose this country and added that it is India where his heart is and has always been.
