Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran Lal Krishna Advani on Sunday expressed hope that the result of Maharashtra Assembly elections would enable his party and the Shiv Sena to renew their alliance.
"I hope that in such an important state like Maharashtra, the alliance that the BJP and the Shiv Sena had for so many years is rekindled and the two parties form the government," Advani told the media here.
Advani recalled that he was 'upset' when the alliance broke in September. He also ruled out a possible union with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
"I was upset when the Shiv Sena decided to contest without us. However, I hope the BJP and the Shiv Sena are able to reconcile, and if I am asked to help with the reuniting of the parties, I shall certainly do my best," Advani said.
"I do not feel the BJP will tie up with the NCP," he added.
