Afghanistan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday met Vice President Hamid Ansari in the national capital.

The two leaders greeted each other warmly before discussing matters of mutual interest.

Earlier in the day, President Ghani met his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he was accorded a ceremonial reception.

President Ghani, who is in New Delhi on a three-day visit, also held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi.

India and Afghanistan have a strong relationship based on historical and cultural links. The relationship is not limited to the government level only.

Both nations have strengthened ties through a strategic partnership agreement inked in 2011.
