A day after the Delhi Police registered a case of sedition against the JNU students for raising anti-India slogans at an event against the hanging of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, the Congress Party on Friday said the cops must identify the guilty students and expose their ulterior motive.

"Students raising slogans on Afzal Guru is outrightly condemnable. Merely registering sedition cases against these students won't solve the purpose. The police should identify those who are behind these activities," Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit told ANI.

"Raising slogans in favour of a person, who has been prosecuted for conspiring against the national security, is outrightly condemnable. I hope the police gets hold of the guilty students and exposes their ulterior motive," he added.

The Delhi Police yesterday filed a case of sedition against the students of JNU for raising anti-India slogans at an event against the hanging of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. The police registered an FIR under Section-124-A (sedition) of the IPC against unknown people yesterday.
