Aga Khan meets Khurshid in New Delhi

Spiritual leader of 20 million Ismaili Muslim community, Prince Shah Karim Al Husseini alias Aga Khan, met External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid here on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Khan and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated a 16th century Mughal garden in the heart of New Delhi following a multi-million dollar restoration that lasted several years.

The Aga Khan is the founder and chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), which functions in 30 countries across the world.

AKDN works to improve the welfare and prospects of people in the developing world, particularly in Asia and Africa, without regard to faith, origin or gender.

 

The Aga Khan is in New Delhi at the invitation of Indian Government.

He is also scheduled to inaugurate the Aga Khan Academy in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, which according to reports would enrich students with world class IB (International Baccalaureate) education.
