A 26-year-old Indian died under mysterious circumstances in Dubai early this month.

The family of Shyam Kumar Nair has claimed he was in perfect health when he arrived from India barely two weeks ago to work in a Dubai bank.

According to Gulf News, his flat-mates called an ambulance after he collapsed at his home and was rushed to a nearby Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, without any external marks or injuries.

A copy of the preliminary police report cites suspected food poisoning as the cause of the death.

Shyam's brother, Sharath Kumar, who has arrived with his parents from Pune, said nothing could be confirmed about the death as the blood test results were being awaited.

He said it has been over three weeks now and they are yet to get the death certificate.

Shyam's cousin Suresh Kumar said his parents are in a state of shock.

Kumar said that Shyam's mother was hospitalised in Pune but somehow managed to come here, and is complaining of chest pain.

According to the report, among the questions plaguing the family is why and how Kumar died.
