All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) workers in Chennai held a 'silent protest' in support of their jailed party leader J. Jayalalithaa on Saturday.
The workers, all of them dressed in black, were seen clutching Jayalalithaa's photographs in their hands.
Various protests have been held in Chennai after Jayalalithaa was sentenced to four years in prison following her conviction in the disproportionate assets case. The former Tamil Nadu chief minister was also fined Rs 100 crores by a Bangalore court.
The conviction resulted in violent protests leading to stone pelting and self immolation attempts, while many of her supporters reportedly committed suicide.
Her supporters had staged a silent protest earlier as well, which included some of the famous actors from the Tamil film industry.
Meanwhile, her bail plea hearing has been adjourned till October 7 next week.
