Australian coach Darren Lehmann, who was recently hospitalized with deep vein thrombosis, has been ruled out of next month's one-day international series against New Zealand.

The 45-year-old reported a swollen left calf to the team medical staff in the fifth ODI of the just concluded series against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground and was also subsequently ruled of the three-match Twenty20 series, which starts on Tuesday.

Cricket Australia's chief medical officer John Orchard said that Lehmann was in good health and feeling well at the moment but added that he was awaiting medical clearance in order to ensure that it was safe for him to fly, News.com.au reported.

Orchard confirmed that the Australian head coach will not travel to New Zealand for the ODI series, adding that he would have repeat scans on Friday to check his progress.

However, CA is expecting Lehmann to resume his work with the team for the subsequent two-match Test series against New Zealand.
