United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has said that he aims to provide universal energy access to all seven billion people in the world by 2030.
"Our vision and target through this sustainable energy for world initiative is first of all to provide universal energy access to all seven billion people in the world by 2030," Ban said, while inaugurating the 10 megawatt canal top solar power plant in Vadodara on Sunday.
"I am very happy and encouraged that India is now taking the lead in sustainable energy for world initiative," he added.
Ban further said the proposed sustainable development goals are intended to be transformational and that they cover many areas, including ending poverty and hunger; ensuring access to healthcare, education and energy; promoting economic growth and decent work; and building resilient infrastructure.
