Air Chief Arup Raha today took the "Swachh Bharat' pledge along with other air force personnel.

"The pledge that we have taken today has been implemented by the Indian Air Force throughout its beginning, we do it regularly, and every air warrior takes part in it to keep our environment clean so this is a part of our culture in the air force," said Raha.

He also said that it's a very important drive and the forces always keep their territory clean.

Earlier today Chief of Army Staff Gen. Dalbir Singh and Indian Army personnel also took a pledge for a 'Swachh Bharat' following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official launch of the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' earlier in the day.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Robin K Dhowan also wielded a broom as part of the 'Swachh Bharat' drive.

Politicians across the country were seen holding brooms and wiping roads to spread the message of keeping India clean and healthy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' at Rajpath today. On the occasion, the Prime Minister also administered a cleanliness pledge to the people. Later, he flagged off a walkathon as part of the campaign.

'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' includes sweeping, removal of garbage, debris and unauthorised encroachments from roads, markets and residential places and aims at making India a clean country by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
