ANI Beijing [China]

Air China will suspend flights between Beijing and Pyongyang, North Korea, beginning April 17, according to reports.

"Air China to cancel flights from Beijing to #Pyongyang starting from Apr 17 due to shortage of passengers," tweeted People's Daily China.

South China Morning Post also reported that starting Monday, flights between the two countries have been put on hold due to lack of passengers in the past.

Air China is the only Chinese carrier with regular services to North Korea.

The announcement came hours after Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that a conflict over North Korea could break out "at any moment".

"Lately, tensions have risen ... and one has the feeling that a conflict could break out at any moment. If a war occurs, the result is a situation in which everybody loses and there can be no winner," said Wang.

Wang's remarks followed U.S. President Donald Trump's tweet yesterday saying, "I have great confidence that China will properly deal with North Korea. If they are unable to do so, the U.S., with its allies, will! U.S.A.
