Air France has announced it will cut about 2800 jobs to return back to competition after continuously falling demand over the years compared to low-cost carriers.
The French airline, which is part of the loss-making Franco-Dutch group Air France-KLM, revealed it will offer buyout plans in order to cut five percent of its workforce, News.com.au reports.
Air France is planning to offer fewer flights between Paris and provincial cities and increase flights on its own low-cost carrier, Transavia, the report added.
Earlier, the carrier had announced that it was reducing its staff by about 5000 people as it would incur losses by the end of 2013.
