At least 25 Taliban militants were killed and 27 others wounded in an airstrike carried out by the Afghan forces in western Farah province.
The airstrike was carried out in Bala Bolok district of Farah, leaving at least 27 more wounded, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), reports the Khaama Press.
The statement added that four vehicles and seven motorcycles belonging to the militants were also destroyed during the airstrike.
The Taliban group, however, claimed that the airstrike targeted civilians, killing and wounding several women and children.
The MoD said the militants were targeted and that heavy casualties have been incurred during the airstrikes.
The Afghan forces have stepped up counter-terrorism operations against the Taliban militants, who are attempting to increase their foothold and carry out insurgency operations as part of their spring offensive.
