Indian shuttler Ajay Jayaram had to settle for silver after suffering a straight set defeat against world number one Chen Long in the final of the Korea Open Superseries on Sunday.
Jayaram, who displayed a spirited performance throughout the tournament, was beaten 14-21, 13-21 against Long of China in the summit clash that lasted 40 minutes.
Despite leading 4-2 in the second set, Jayaram failed to keep up the momentum as he found the world champion too strong to overcome.
The 27-year-old Bangalore-based shuttler had reached the semi-finals of Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold, Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold and Russian Open Grand Prix earlier this season.
