Congress leader Ajit Jogi had a narrow escape after his car skidded off the road and turned turtle en route to party vice-president Rahul Gandhi's rally in Chhattisgarh's Korba district on Monday.
Jogi said that the incident took place when his driver avoided a collision with a drunk cyclist on the road.
"We were moving in a cavalcade when a drunk cyclist came in front. In order to save him, our vehicle toppled over. My bodyguards are a little injured otherwise everyone else is safe. We are all fine. Rahul ji's program has been going on well and will continue to go on well," Jogi told ANI.
Rahul Gandhi addressed farmers and tribals in Korba, criticising the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government's stand with regards to the coal mines in the district, stating that the mining of the area will leave the tribals, who are dependent on the land, helpless.
