Pakistani players Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi and Sohail Tanvir have reportedly been signed by domestic South African Twenty20 sides to play in their upcoming domestic 20-overs competition.

The signings are believed to be part of the growing friendship between the two countries, which have always enjoyed good relations but are seeking to further develop that bond.

According to the Daily Times, spinner Ajmal has signed with the Titans team, while all-rounder Afridi and pace bowler Tanvir will be part of the Knights and Lions squads respectively, adding that two other players are also in negotiation to confirm deals.

While Ajmal and Afridi will be new to the South African domestic scene, Tanvir has already spent two seasons with Lions, where, in addition to providing international experience, he has been credited with mentoring their younger crop of fast bowlers.

The report mentioned that Tanvir also played for Lions during this year's Champions League T20.

CSA chief executive Haroon Lorgat indicated the relationship between the two countries would expand to give Pakistan's players, who do not participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL), an opportunity to play in the 20-overs competition.
