Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Friday expressed his confidence over the performance of his party in the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

At a press conference on Friday, Shah made an intimidating statement to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, telling him to keep his resignation ready by March 11.

"Akhilesh Yadav is bound to lose this election. He should keep his resignation ready. On March 11, he should tender his resignation by 1 pm.," Shah said.

Shah also took the occasion to laud the two and half year of work done by Prime Minister Modi government and said that looking at the efficiency of the NDA dispensation at the Centre, Uttar Pradesh will once again support Modi sarkar.

"The people of Uttar Pradesh are tired of goonda raj. Wherever I have toured, people have demanded better law and order. This Akhilesh government boasts about the clean image of their CM, but he is exposed trying to save his rape-accused minister. Why the Chief Minister appears so helpless before Gayatri Prajapati? He needs to prove himself by getting Prajapati arrested by March 11. Anyway, if Akhilesh fails to send Prajapati behind the bars by March 11, the BJP government would nab him even from hell." said the BJP chief.

The voting for the sixth phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls will take place on March 4.

A total of 49 constituencies across seven districts will go to polls.
