Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, who is now known for his movies on pressing social issues, joined the 'Swachhata Hi Seva Movement' launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier in the day.
The 'Gold' star took to Twitter to announce his participation in the movement and urged his fans to do their bit in keeping their neighbourhood clean.
He tweeted, "Proud to join the #SHS2018 movement led by our Honourable Prime Minister Mr @NarendraModi. I urge all my followers to please come out on 15 September, clean their neighbourhoods, and do their bit for a @swachhbharat"
'Swachhata Hi Seva' began earlier in the day with Prime Minister Modi's interaction with the people connected with the Clean India Mission.
Launched in 2014 by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, the Swachh Bharat Mission aims at making a clean and Open Defecation Free (ODF) India by October 2, 2019.
