ANI New Delhi [India]

Akshay Kumar was on Wednesday conferred with his "first ever" National Award for the movie 'Rustom,' and thereby, has got all the reason to be on cloud nine.

Rightly so, the 49-year-old actor took to Twitter and shared a picture from the 64th National Film Awards ceremony, where he can be seen receiving the honour from President Pranab Mukherjee.

He captioned the snap, "No words can do justice to the joy I feel at this moment...sharing with you all my first ever #NationalFilmAward!Thank you for the love."

The 'Baby' star was accompanied by his wife Twinkle Khanna and son Aarav.

A controversy had ensued soon after Akshay's name was announced for the National Award in the Best Actor category, questioning his candidature as there were, according to some, better performances in the year.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar will be seen in 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' opposite Bhumi Pednekar. The flick is slated to release on June 2.
