The Somali militant group al-Shabab has carried out a major attack in the capital Mogadishu where a suicide bomb exploded and the sound of heavy gunfire was reported.
According to BBC, government officials said that four militants were killed and that the attack was foiled.
The militants have vowed to intensify attacks during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, which began on Wednesday.
Security forces had successfully repulsed the attackers, said interior ministry spokesman Mohamed Yusuf.
