West Bromwich Albion football team manager Alan Irvine is not sure if he would remain as the club's boss following their 3-1 humbling by defending champions Manchester City.

West Brom's 3-1 loss to City left Irvine's men two points above the relegation zone after a run of two wins in 12 games. Irvine is favourite to become the first Premier League manager to be sacked.

Irvine said that the chairman would make a decision as far as that is concerned, adding that he cannot control it. He claimed that he is not necessarily confident about it because he doesn't know what the thinking is, the BBC reported.

Irvine, who succeeded Pepe Mel in June, had stints in charge of Preston and Sheffield Wednesday, but his appointment was regarded as a surprise, with West Brom fans quick to question his appointment after spending three years as head of Everton's academy.

Irvine said that all he can do is work as hard as he does and keeps on trying to get the right kind of performances and results.

Phil Neville, who was at Everton when Irvine was assistant manager at Goodison Park, revealed that he believes that the Scot has what it takes to be a manager at this level.

Neville claimed that Irvine's team was all working for him, adding that the problem is they're getting punished for individual errors.
