Alberta Premier to visit India

Alison Redford, Premier of the Canadian province of Alberta, will be leading a trade mission to India from 11 - 17 January 2014. The week-long mission will include visits to Delhi, Amritsar, Mumbai and Bengaluru.

Premier Redford is visiting India to explore areas of deeper cooperation, notably in the energy and agriculture sectors; promote Alberta as an attractive investment destination; and open an Alberta trade office in Delhi. More than 20 Alberta-based companies are participating in this mission.

"Our trade mission to India is an important opportunity to build on Alberta's strong relationship with one of the world's fastest-growing economies. Opening new markets is job one for our government and a key part of our Building Alberta Plan. This trade mission will allow us to open new doors for Alberta organizations and enable Indian businesses are able to identify new opportunities in Alberta," said Premier Redford.

 

Program highlights include: the opening of an Alberta office in Delhi; a keynote speech at the PETROTECH 2014 ministerial session; meetings with key Indian government and industry leaders, a visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar; an address at the Sophia College in Mumbai; and a visit to the Wipro global headquarters campus in Bengaluru.
