Alejando G. Inarritu has been named as the Best Director for his movie 'Birdman' at the 2015 Academy Awards.
The story follows protagonist Riggan Thomson, a faded Hollywood actor famous for his role as superhero 'Birdman', as he struggles to mount a Broadway adaptation of a short story by Raymond Carver.
Inarritu took home the award over Richard Linklater for 'Boyhood', Bennett Miller for 'Foxcatcher', Wes Anderson for 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' and Morton Tyldum for 'The Imitation Game'.
