A terror plot to potentially attack Pakistan's Air Force's Chaklala Air Base and Benazir Bhutto International Airport was reportedly foiled on Thursday by alert security personnel.

According to the Express Tribune, 18 militants were dressed in police uniform and arrived at the airport in vehicles resembling those of the police with sirens and allegedly tried to enter the airport and claiming to be sent by the DIG.

However, when the Airport Security Force (ASF) counter checked with police officials as there had been no intimation of such an arrival, they found that the DIG was sleeping at his residence.

The report said that that the militants had wireless technology to listen to communications between the ASF and police officials and sped off in their vehicles on learning that their plot had been discovered.

Investigation at the airport is on and no information regarding the militants' location has been found yet.

Both the airport and the airbase have been on red alert since last night and more security precautions are being undertaken, the report added.
