Russian qualifier Alexander Kudryavtsev has expressed his displeasure at Australian fans during his five-set loss to Australian Marinko Matosevic, describing them as 'animals' at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Alexander, who lost 6-4, 6-7 (5), 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to Matosevic, said that crowd were animals while complaining it to the umpire.

Matosevic, on the other hand, stated that he didn't think they (the crowd) were (animals), adding that he thought it was a very fair crowd, News.com.au reported.

Matosevic further said that only one or two times they (the crowd) might have yelled out between serves, adding that it was a grand slam and that could happen at times, the report added.
