Alicia Keys is pushing HIV-AIDS awareness into the limelight with her new project called Empowered.

The Grammy-winning singer told ABC News that it is very important to talk about the fatal disease, as it would continue if people don't talk about it.

Keys said that Americans are not really discussing, though they tend to have a good international dialogue.

The R and B star said that people have to learn as much as they can about AIDS and have to share with as many people we possible.

The 32-year-old singer-songwriter said that the result of an HIV-AIDS test doesn't matter because if someone is at risk then their kids are at risk as well.

She said that she thought people have gotten a bit complacent and they feel that it will not happen to them.

Keys asserted that only talking to people about it openly can help the cause.
