A Delhi Court today granted bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Alka Lamba in a case of allegedly trespassing and vandalising a sweet shop in Kashmere Gate and obstructing the police from performing their duty in August last year.

The court granted Lamba bail on a personal bond of Rs. 10,000 and surety of the same amount.

The next hearing is scheduled to take place on June 3.

Lamba was earlier summoned as accused in the case by the court, which had taken cognizance of a chargesheet filed by the police against her.

The police had filed a chargesheet for alleged offences against her under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

It was stated in the chargesheet that on August 9, 2015, Lamba along with some other persons trespassed the shop of complainant and threw cash bill machine, vandalised the counter and obstructed and deterred the police personnel.

An FIR was lodged against the AAP MLA from Chandni Chowk on August 10 last year, a day after she had received head injuries in a stone-pelting attack during her anti-drug campaign in the Kashmere Gate area.

She alleged that she was attacked in the presence of policemen, but no action was taken by them.

The CCTV footage showed Lamba reaching straight for the shop counter and throwing away some items on the counter, after which her supporters also vandalised the shop.

She had filed a complaint with the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA O.P. Sharma for calling her a 'drug addict'.

She had claimed that the raid was aimed at shops in the area which were operating illegally and helping drug peddlers.

The police had registered a case in connection with the attack on Lamba and arrested one person.
