The Allahabad High Court has stayed the cancellation of appointments of 15 thousand assistant teachers of primary schools in Uttar Pradesh.

Passing the order on Wednesday, Justice P.K.S Baghel asked the Basic Education Department and the state government to file their replies. The court order has come on a writ petition filed by five petitioners.

They claimed that they were appointed against an advertisement for 15 thousand assistant teachers published in December 2004. The appointment letters were issued to some successful candidates and many of them had joined their services also.

In November 2015, the Basic Education Department postponed their appointment and in December 2015, all 15 thousand appointments were cancelled.

The department told the court that after necessary rectification, fresh results would be declared.
