The youngest son of the man accused of being a former commander of a Nazi SS unit allegedly involved in the killing thousands of women and children during World War II has denounced the allegations made against his father as 'sensationalistic and scandalous'.
Andrij Karkoc, in a statement, said that a report by a leading international news organization intentionally and maliciously defamed his father, Michael Karkoc.
He said that the slander cannot hold to besmirch his father's character and the report only damaged and discredited the organization's credibility.
According to ABC News, he said his father did not have a direct hand in war crimes, and he was never a Nazi.
Karkoc said the family would not comment further until it obtained the documents and reviewed the witnesses and sources interviewed in the media organization's story, the report added.
