Amber Heard is in negotiations to star in a strong supporting role in Tom Hooper's 'The Danish Girl.'

The 28-year-old 'Rum Diary' star would play the role of Oola opposite Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander in the film, which would see director and producer Hooper re-teaming with Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner after 'Les Miserables', Deadline.com reported.

Based on the novel by David Ebershoff, the story revolves around Danish painters Einar Wegener and his wife Gerda. In 1930, Wegener was one of the first men ever to have sex change surgery.

The screenplay was adapted by Lucinda Coxon, while Gail Mutrux developed the film, which would be produced through her Pretty Pictures banner alongside Anne Harrison and Linda Reisman.
