The White House said the newly-appointed Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, is the one Americans can trust to restore public safety to communities across the country.
Sessions has taken a stand for tough sentencing of Federal criminals. Throughout his career, he has prioritized getting drugs out of our communities and away from our children, said a White House statement.
President Donald Trump has also signed an executive order that establishes a task force, led by the new Attorney General, to reduce crime and restore public safety.
Sessions' appointment to the post of Attorney General came under fire from many as he earned a reputation for his hard-line stance on immigration and checkered record on civil rights during his tenure in federal politics.
