About half the population of America thinks that President Barack Obama is empathetic and trustworthy but lacks leadership qualities, revealed a new poll.

According to a poll result declared on Wednesday, 54 percent Americans believe that Obama cares about them while 51 percent find him trustworthy, reported Politico.

About 42 percent people in America do not find Obama empathetic and 47 percent think he is not trustworthy, the report added.

The report also revealed that Obama scored quite badly on questions related to his efficiency and leadership skills. While 50 percent Americans said that he was not a strong leader, 47 percent endorsed his leadership qualities. Only 47 percent people feel that he can get things done as opposed to 53 percent who believe he can't.

For the first two categories of empathy and trustworthiness, Obama scored better than former United States President George W. Bush. However, his score in the category of leadership and efficiency was almost the same as Bush's in the Pew survey conducted in 2006.

The same poll showed that the percentage of Americans who approve of the President remained fixed at 44 percent.

The survey was conducted between July 8 and July 14 with 1,805 adults on landlines and cell phones. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.7 percent points, the report added.
