Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Tuesday congratulated the party's Chandigarh unit for winning the municipal corporation polls.
"I whole heartedly congratulate the president of the Chandigarh BJP unit and all the workers. I am also thankful to the people of Chandigarh for supporting the BJP," Shah told the media here.
"Post demonetisation we have won by-elections in five states. We have won the Maharashtra municipal council polls, Rajasthan polls, Gujarat elections. Now, the people have supported the BJP whole-heartedlyin the Chandigarh polls," he added.
Shah further said that the BJP has won all elections that have taken place post demonetisation, which indicates that the public has given its nod to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's demonetisation decision.
The BJP-SAD alliance has won 21 municipal seats out of a total 26 seats up for grabs. The Congress won four seats while one seat was won by an Independent.
