Amity University on Monday conferred honorary doctorate degrees on Reserve Bank of India Deputy Governor S.S Mundra and the Governor of Victoria, Australia, Alex Chernov.
According to a release by the university, Mundra was conferred Degree of Philosophy (D. Phil) Honoris Causa for his efforts in nation building by promoting India's place of prominence in world economy via his planning for inclusive growth, while Chernov was conferred the degree of laws (LL. D) Honoris Causa for his contributions towards the development of legal systems.
"This prestigious recognition brings along with it a responsibility to be more dedicated and committed to the social change that we are trying to bring in the lives of retail customers, small business units, agriculturists etc. by focusing on financial inclusion, customer protection and ultimately to the overall stability of the financial system," Mundra said.
"India is a vibrant community in many ways; the public laws in India are most exciting which are able to adapt to different circumstances, catering to a population of 1.3 billion. There is no other country in the world which has attempted such a feat," Chernov added.
