Amity Varsity breaks ground for AED 300 M university in Dubai

Amity University recently broke ground for its new state-of-the-art campus at Dubai International Academic City (DIAC).

The new campus is set to become a centre of excellence for the research community and a hub for leading academics in the region.

The ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed AI Maktoum, Chairman of the

Economic Development Commission in Dubai's Executive Council; His Excellency Dr. Abdullah AI Karam, Director General of Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group, Mr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor of Amity University, Dr. Amina Rostamani, Group CEO, TECOM Investments and Dr. Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director of TECOM Investments' Education Cluster.

 

The university will accommodate a total of 5,000 students and will be the largest private university campus spanning 700,000 sq ft space in DIAC.

The campus will incorporate hi-tech laboratories and the latest technology for the University's Departments of Engineering, Management, Hospitality and Forensic Science.

It will provide extensive sports facilities to the students, including soccer pitches, an athletics track, aquatics centre, indoor multipurpose courts, gyms, cricket lanes and tennis courts.

Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director of TECOM's Education Cluster, which includes both DIAC and DKV said: "The development of a nation can be assessed by the amount of funds being poured into research and development. We are very pleased with Amity University for making such a significant commitment that helps DIAC achieve its goal of becoming the region's leading education and research institution in line with the Government mandates. Amity has committed AED.300 million towards setting up of this campus.
