Spiritual leader and humanitarian icon Mata Amritanandamayi will be meeting Pope Francis in Vatican next month, it was confirmed today.
A spokesperson of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math (MAM) headed by Amma - as the 'hugging saint' is known globally - confirmed that the leader of the worldwide Catholic Church has invited her to Rome this December.
"The details of further attendees and the planned topic for the closed discussion will be announced at a later date," the MAM spokesperson said at Amritapuri here.
On her part, Amma said it was an honour to be called upon as a representative to join Pope Francis.
"Opportunities for religious leaders to come together can help spread the fragrance of peace and harmony throughout the world and can generate solutions to global problems," she added.
