Amid a row over the stabbing case of a 19-year old girl in Delhi's Anand Parbat area, the Congress on Sunday held both the Delhi Police and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) responsible for delayed action and called for better law and order in the city.

"I think the police is responsible for this and after the blame game, I think Arvind Kejriwal is also responsible. Blame-game would not be the appropriate solution for this problem. I think the correct action would be if the Delhi government, with the help of social welfare sensitizes the boys as well as girls, and provide them with civil defense training," Ajay Maken, the chief of the Delhi unit of the Congress Party, told the media here.

"The Delhi Police should try to bring better law and order. No action has been taken apart from lodging the FIR earlier," he added.

After interacting with the victim's family as well as residents, Maken said the security and law and order have almost collapsed in this area.

"There is police hypocrisy because the FIR has already been lodged of this issue but no action has been taken till now. We hope that the police will monitor the law and order situation here. Such incidents should be dealt with strictness by the police. This clearly indicate breakdown of law and order," he added.

Earlier, Congress leader Ajay Maken had met the kin of 19-years old girl who was brutally stabbed to death in the capital's Anand Parbat locality for resisting and strongly objecting to a molestation attempt.
