Union Minister Anand Sharma on Saturday stated that the public should understand the fact that the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was utilizing all its money on its prime ministerial candidate to influence them .

"There have been many elections that have taken place in India before. But this is for the first time where atleast 10000 crores of money has been spent on advertising just one person, for the first time in the history of India. They are spending for weeks in media whether it is in print, electronic, digital. They are spending crores on hoardings, and rallies. They are using black money in their advertisements. If someone is asking from where he is getting all such money for advertisements what is wrong in that ? If he (Modi) thinks it is right, I think it is fatal for the country. Election Commission must take suo moto cognizance of how Modi was spending so much. Inquiry should take place on those who have invested so much on advertisements and on one day I am sure the truth will come out. If such practices continue then the public has to understand how much influence is used in order to win elections," Sharma said.

Coming under attack over BJP's media blitz, BJP,s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Friday said he is ready to face any probe by any government agency into Congress's allegations that Rs 10,000 crore were being spent on election publicity and offered to write to the Election Commission to seek an probe into the matter.
