Anandiben Patel takes oath as Gujarat's first woman chief minister

Anandiben Patel was sworn in as Gujarat's first woman chief minister on Thursday in a ceremony attended by her predecessor Narendra Modi, who will be the country's next prime minister.

State Governor Kamla Beniwal administered oath of office and secrecy to Anandiben Patel and her council of ministers.

Anandiben Patel was elected leader of the Gujarat BJP Legislature Party in Gandhinagar yesterday.

Patel was looking after the Departments of Revenue, Urban Development and Education when Modi was chief minister.
