Highlighting the fake degree row and the case of domestic violence related to leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Jitendra Tomar and Somnath Bharti, the president of the Delhi unit of the BJP, Satish Upadhyay, on Thursday alleged that the Arvind Kejriwal-led regime was following and abiding by a confrontationist and anarchist approach with little concern for the development of Delhi.
Upadhyay, who led a protest outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence here, said the fake degree, domestic violence and other kinds of misdeeds was reflective of the AAP.
"Government means development, good governance; they are doing everything with a sense of confrontation, the rightist approach, the anarchist approach. That is their concern. They are not at all
interested in developing Delhi," he added.
Bringing to the fore the domestic violence charges levelled against AAP's Malviya Nagar MLA Somnath Bharti, Upadhyay said the former law minister should resign.
"We don't want to get into anybody's personal matter, but the issue is when his wife went to the Women Commission then he should realise that he is in the public domain. If females are not safe in AAP MLA's house, ex minister's house, what about the others? How can rest of Delhi's women feel safe?" asked Upadhyay.
"The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has to take the cognizance and issue a notice to the AAP. They have to protect the women of this city. They are doing the right thing. Bharti should resign. He has a past history of all these kinds," he added.
Bharti's wife Lipika Mitra has levelled domestic violence and mental torture charges against the AAP leader. His wife approached the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and filed a complaint alleging assault and domestic violence.
Bharti, who was yesterday served notices by the DCW following the complaint lodged by his wife, has been asked to reply to the notices by June 26.
Bharti's wife has alleged that she has been facing domestic violence since 2010.
Bharti, who was the law minister in Kejriwal's first government in Delhi which was in power for only 49 days, has downplayed the issue and said that the allegations had come as a shock to him.
In a series of tweets, he said that his wife had filed a false complaint against him since he refused to agree to her request to leave India.
"Allegations of domestic violence if any are baseless n inconceivable. I love my wife n my little children. I urge media 2 respect my privacy," tweeted Bharti.
"I love my wife but her demands that I should leave serving my mother and motherland are not acceptable. She reacted with a false complaint," he said in another tweet.
