Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said his government will establish waste-to-energy plants in all 13 districts of the state to utilise both solid and liquid waste, which is generated daily, for energy production.
Taking part in a review meeting of senior state administration officials over the weekend, Naidu instructed them to identify an appropriate place in each of the 13 districts for bringing in waste from different places for recycling.
Naidu also said that efforts should be made to make use of the bio-waste generated from cattle and other animals.
The initiative to establish waste-to-energy plants is expected to be completed within next 18 months.
Several private companies have also submitted detailed presentations on waste-to-energy projects being implemented in Delhi, Mumbai and several other regions of the country.
