Angelina Jolie, Steve Martin and Angela Lansbury have accepted honorary Oscar statuettes at the film academy's fifth annual Governors Awards.

The 38-year-old actress received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award as she thanked her mother who inspired her to think of others and would now be extremely proud of her.

Tom Hanks and Martin Short presented Martin with his honorary Oscar, which Short described as the highest honor an actor can receive in mid-November, CBS News reported.

The 68-year-old actor joked that he possibly can't express his excitement, as the Botox is fresh but he got misty eyed as he reflected on the friends that he has made during his five decades in the film industry.

The 88-year-old actress recited a list of her famous co-stars as she accepted her honorary Academy Award and thanked movies and acting for rescuing her after the death of her husband.

The Governors Awards were not televised but portions of the ceremony may be included in the Academy Awards telecast on March 2, 2014.
