South African fans have slammed England bowling coach David Saker for claiming that English pace star James Anderson was 'more skilful' than Proteas bowler Dale Steyn.
Saker had said that although Steyn is an outstanding bowler and faster than Anderson, he lags behind the English bowler in terms of skill, Sport24 reports.
Saker's view has stirred a hornets' nest in South Africa, with offended fans claiming 'typical British arrogance' as one of the reasons behind Saker's comment.
According to South African cricketer Vyash Gobind, Steyn has taken 21 5 wicket hauls and 5 10-fers compared to Andersons' 13 and 1 and has played 65 tests for 335 wickets while Anderson has a much lesser record of 81 tests for 305 wickets, adding that the statistics themselves prove Saker wrong.
Another fan claimed that Anderson only bowls well in a country like England where the ball swings constantly, adding that the bowler is useless when there is no swing.
A third fan said that the British have laid claim to world supremacy after just a Test win against New Zealand.
