Trinamool Congress spokesperson Derek o' Brien on Friday confirmed that social activist and anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare would be campaigning for the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress.

This would be the first time that Hazare will be campaigning for any political party.

"We have been in touch with Anna for the last six weeks through telephonic conversations and written communication, and yesterday he did confirm that he is coming to Delhi," said Brien

"He will be campaigning for our party, and it will be for the first time that he would be campaigning for a political party," he said.

"Mid next week there will be a meeting between Mamata Banerjee and Anna Hazare, and after that there will be some joint announcements, as to what the next move will be after the meeting," he added.

On Monday Hazare had asked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to give an affidavit to the people of this country that if she fails to incorporate the 17 issues after coming to power, she would step down from her post.

Hazare said he had written a letter to all party heads seeking their reply on the 17-point agenda to bring a positive change in the country.

He further said that if Mamata Banerjee agrees to give an affidavit to the people, he would garner support for her to form the next government.

"The party, which will follow all 17 issues, will change the country for the better. If these 17 issues are incorporated then the country will definitely progress," he added.
