As honeymoon murder suspect, Shrien Dewani's trial faces the risk of collapse due to lack of evidence, Anni Dewani's brother, Anish Hindocha, has asked Dewani to explain himself and tell what happened on the night of Anni's murder.

Remarking that it would be wrong for Dewani to just walk away, Hindocha said that he expects the trial to continue on December 8 and for his application to end the case to be dismissed, reported The Daily Star.

He said that since, Dewani has insisted all along the trial that he would clear his name and his defense counsel has promised the court since the trial began that his client would help the court with his "own version of events" then, he should tell the court what happened on the night of the murder.

He said that if Dewani does not narrate his version of events before the court then Anni's death will remain on South Africa's conscience forever.

Dewani, who has been accused of orchestrating the murder of his wife in Cape Town in 2010, has denied all the charges and has maintained that his wife was shot dead in a hijacking in the city during their honeymoon.

Three men have been convicted for their roles in the murder but Dewani continues to claim his innocence.
