A massive earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale has been recorded on the Nepalese border, weeks after a 7.8-magnitude quake wreaked havoc in the Himalayan nation.

The epicenter of the quake was located 52 miles from Kathmandu and 14 miles from the Chinese city of Zham, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, reported USA Today.

People in Kathmandu rushed to the streets as the quake hit. No immediate deaths or injuries were reported. It's also not clear how much additional damage has been caused.

The news came as the death toll from April 25 quake neared 8,000.
