Ant and Dec claim Bafta win for 2nd year in row

Ant and Dec have bagged 2 awards at the recently held Bafta Television Awards for the 2nd consecutive year.

The comedy duo took home awards for best entertainment show and best entertainment performance for their ITV show 'Saturday Night Takeaway,' the BBC reported.

While receiving the first prize, Ant McPartlin said that they were thrilled and it was great start to the show.

Meanwhile, 'Coronation Street,' which celebrated its 60th anniversary this year, claimed best soap in the year it, and producer Stuart Blackburn dedicated the award to "his friend and colleague" Anne Kirkbride, who died in January after playing Deidre Barlow for 42 years.

 

Best actor accolade went to Jason Watkins for 'The Lost Honour of Christopher Jeffries,' while best actress went to newcomer Georgina Campbell for played a 17-year-old victim of domestic abuse in 'Murdered by My Boyfriend.'

BBC Two's 'Marvellous,' based on story of Neil Baldwin, a man with learning difficulties who became kit man with Stoke City Football Club, also bagged two awards, one for best single drama and other for Gemma Jones, 72, as supporting actress.

Channel 4 claimed a total of 6 awards, the most in the list, including best feature programme for 'Grand Designs,' while Sky News picked up the news award for its coverage of the Ebola crisis in west Africa.

The awards, hosted by Graham Norton, were held at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London.
