The Congress Party on Thursday demanded Minister of State for External Affairs General (Retd.) V.K. Singh's resignation over his controversial statement on the Ballabhgarh incident and alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government is 'anti-Dalit'

"Congress highly condemns VK Singh's insensitive comments on Dalits. This shows the perspective of Modi Government towards the Dalits. The anti-Dalit, anti-poor face of the Narendra Modi Government has been exposed completely today. We demand a case to be registered against VK Singh under Prevention of Atrocities on Scheduled Caste Act, 1989 Section 3 and 4," Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala told a press conference here.

"We also demand from Prime Minister Modi to immediately take action against him (V.K. Singh) and sack him if he is not convinced with his statement," Surjewala added.

The former army chief had courted a controversy with his reaction over the Dalit killings in Ballabhgarh, saying that it had become customary for the Centre to be blamed for everything negative that happened in the country.

"This incident has nothing to with the Central government. This is the failure of state government. If someone throws stones at a dog, the government is not responsible," Singh had said.

General (Retd.) Singh later clarified his statement and slammed the media for manipulating the same.
