Two 100-year-old revolvers and a sword sheathe have been burgled from Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery.

Despite heavy security, the robbers managed to steal the items. This has raised a question on the security.

Curator of the museum, Vijay Patel, said he received the news in the morning."I ran to the museum and informed the police and looked for missing items and found that two revolvers and a sword sheathe were missing," said Patel.

The police rushed to the spot with dog squads and forensic department after receiving the information.

"There has been a robbery in the museum and two antique revolvers are missing. We have checked the entire museum and nothing else is missing," said Joint Police Commissioner, Vadodara, D J Patel.

He also said that the thieves were trying to open more cupboards but were unsuccessful.

The grill of the window was also found open and the police are trying to figure out if the thieves were already hiding in the museum or came from outside.

The famous museum in Vadodara was built in 1894 by King Sayaji Rao Gaekwad. It preserves a rich collection of art, sculpture, ethnography and ethnology of international value worth millions.
