Any cross-border infiltrations will be dealt with, assures Lt. Gen. K H Singh

General Officer Commanding of Nagrota-based 16 Corps, Lieutenant General K H Singh on Saturday warned that militants are trying to cross the Line of Control (LoC) to create problems during the Amarnath Yatra, and assured that any such intentions of infiltration will be dealt with.

"We are aware that militants are trying to cross the border to create problems during the Amarnath Yatra. Let me assure you that their intentions of infiltration or trying to create trouble will be dealt with. There are approximately 36 launch pads and the training camps are also acting. We are trying to carry out more people friendly operations," said Lt Gen Singh.

"According to our inputs, ISIS has not yet taken off on the other side in PoK, but they are trying to gain a foothold. They are trying to re-energize their activities," he added.

On Wednesday, Union Minister Rajnath Singh had held a review meeting on security provisions for the yatra.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed had also reviewed the arrangements made for the pilgrims in the state's Baltal area.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure a safe and secure yatra for the pilgrims.

This year's Amarnath Yatra will commence from today and end on August 29.

The registration for this year's Yatra, via selected bank branches, began in March.
